Mr. Özdemir Özok was born in 1945 in the city of Kahramanmaraş, Turkey. He graduated from the Ankara University Faculty of Law in 1970. He practiced as a lawyer and during his practice he served as the Vice President of Ankara Bar Association from 1978 to 1980. From 1982 to 1987 he was the Treasurer of the Turkish Institute of Law. In 1990 he was elected as the   President of Ankara Bar Association and served until 1992. In 1993 he became a Member of the Disciplinary Board of Union of Turkish Bar Associations (UTBA) (1993–1997) and in 1997 he became the Secretary General of UTBA (1997–2001). He was elected as the President of UTBA for the first time in 2001. He was re-elected as in 2005 and 2009, respectively.

In his capacity as the President of the UTBA, his main goal and mission had been defending and promoting human rights, democracy and rule of law in Turkey.

He was fully fledged with bar issues and devoted his career to the well being of the lawyers and the legal profession, and fought in promoting and defending democracy, human rights and rule of law in Turkey. In private practice he was a high caliber lawyer and was regarded as one of the prominent lawyers of the country.

He was married with two daughters.

He unexpectedly passed away on the 24th of April 2010.
